Timothy F. Madey serves as a Managing Partner at the firm. He is an Analyst and Portfolio Manager, member of the Board of Managers, and a member of the Investment Committee.
Tim has significant experience in constructing risk managed portfolios for individuals and institutions. Prior to joining White Pine in January 2013, Tim co-founded Primary Funds, LLC in 2002. For a decade, Tim managed the firm’s low volatility, long and short equity portfolios which included sub-advising for the Van Eck Global Multi-Manager Alternatives Fund (ticker symbol: VMAAX). Tim’s responsibilities at Primary Funds included portfolio management, security analysis, risk management, and overseeing the operations of the firm.
Tim was a Managing Director of institutional equity research sales at Robertson Stephens & Company, San Francisco, California from 1999 to 2002. He held various leadership roles with securities firms from 1993 to 1999. He was a Principal with Volpe Brown Whelan, and at Genesis Merchant Group Securities he served as an institutional broker and associate securities analyst. Tim began his securities career as an intern on the Chase Manhattan Bank government bond desk in 1992.
Tim earned an MBA from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York in 1993. Prior to earning his MBA, he was appointed a Regular Army commission in the Field Artillery and attained the rank of Captain. His service included an assignment in Northern Greece after graduating from the Defense Language Institute, Monterey, California in 1985. Tim earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Loyola College, Baltimore, Maryland in 1984.
